By day, we stay

as far away

as love allows,

one from the other

Tonight,

I’ll be your mother

I’ll sooth the singe of sunlight

on your skin

A daughter to your darkness

till the end

The winter’s frozen fingers

seize my soul

The heart you’ve torn apart

has made me whole

Allure for pain is somehow

summer’s breath

Your light is night and life

has mimicked death

embalmed inside a

rigor mortis shell,

your pasty cool complexion

zombie pale

Marble eyes and countenance

of stone

weep a quartz contentment

of their own
